Faunalore Methods book review

Review of Hybrid Ethnography: Online, Offline, and In Between by Liz Przybylski

Stephen M. Lochetto · 2022 · Journal of American Folklore 135(538): 487–489

Abstract

A review of Liz Przybylski's Hybrid Ethnography: Online, Offline, and In Between, assessing the book's approach to fieldwork that moves fluidly between digital and physical settings.

This review sits on the faunalore (folklore) side of the project. It engages the methods of contemporary ethnography — how fieldworkers study communities that live across online and offline worlds — a methodological concern that runs through Stephen’s own ethnographic work on human–animal interaction.
